Accessibility at Tavistock Scrapstore
A Welcoming Creative Space
Tavistock Scrapstore believes creativity should be open to everyone. We aim to provide a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive space for visitors, volunteers, and workshop attendees. Our team works hard to create an environment where people feel comfortable, supported, and inspired to take part in arts, crafts, and community activities.
We understand that accessibility plays an important role in helping people enjoy creative experiences. For this reason, we continue to improve our facilities and make our spaces easier to use for the local community.
Easy Access Around the Shop
The Tavistock Scrapstore shop is arranged on one level, making it easier for visitors to move around and browse our creative materials. Although there is a step at the main entrance, the shop floor itself is flat and open once inside.
Our volunteers keep the shop tidy and organised so visitors can move safely through the space. Clear pathways and well-arranged shelves help people explore the wide range of arts and crafts materials available throughout the Scrapstore.
Accessible Workshop Facilities
All workshops and community sessions take place in our upstairs meeting and workshop room. To improve access to this area, Tavistock Scrapstore has a stairlift that travels from the ground floor to the first-floor workshop space.
The stairlift helps more people enjoy our creative workshops, sewing sessions, and community activities. We want visitors to feel confident and supported when attending events at the Scrapstore.
Comfortable Community Spaces
Our first-floor workshop area includes a private WC for visitors attending workshops and creative sessions. There is also a small kitchenette where guests can make hot drinks and prepare light refreshments.
Visitors can use the kitchenette to microwave small meals during longer sessions and community activities. These facilities help create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where people can enjoy spending time together while learning new creative skills.
Inclusive Workshops for Everyone
Tavistock Scrapstore welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Our workshops suit both beginners and experienced makers. We encourage everyone to enjoy creativity in a supportive and friendly environment.
Many visitors enjoy the social side of the Scrapstore as much as the creative activities. Workshops and sewing sessions give people the chance to meet others, share ideas, and build confidence through arts and crafts.
Supporting Accessibility in West Devon
Accessibility and inclusion remain important to Tavistock Scrapstore. We want as many people as possible to enjoy our shop, workshops, and creative community activities across Tavistock and West Devon.
If visitors need extra support or information before attending, we encourage them to contact us in advance. Our team will always do its best to help people access and enjoy everything Tavistock Scrapstore has to offer.
