Creative Workshops in Tavistock
Tavistock Scrapstore hosts regular workshops throughout the year, bringing people together to learn new creative skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. Our workshops inspire creativity, encourage sustainability and help people explore arts, crafts and making in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
Each workshop is led by experienced and enthusiastic tutors who enjoy sharing their skills with others. Whether you are completely new to crafting or already have experience, our sessions are open to everyone and designed to feel supportive, accessible and engaging.
Learn New Craft Skills
Our Tavistock Scrapstore workshops cover a wide range of creative activities and traditional craft skills. Previous sessions have included felting, crochet, flower-making, sewing and other hands-on creative projects. Because our programme changes throughout the year, there is always something new and exciting to try.
The workshops also provide a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people who enjoy creativity, crafting, recycling and making. Many visitors enjoy the social side of the sessions just as much as the creative learning. As a result, the Scrapstore has become a welcoming community space where people can relax, share ideas and build confidence in their creative abilities.
Friday Sewing Sessions
In addition to our organised workshops, Tavistock Scrapstore hosts a regular Friday drop-in sewing session. During these sessions, our resident sewing expert Linda offers guidance, support and practical help with sewing machine projects.
Whether you need help threading a sewing machine, learning basic techniques or finishing a project, Linda is always happy to help. These sessions are ideal for beginners as well as more experienced sewers looking for advice and inspiration.
Membership and Workshop Costs
Most Tavistock Scrapstore workshops are free to members. Annual membership costs just £10 per year and also gives members 20% off items purchased in the Scrapstore shop.
Occasionally, we invite external tutors and specialist makers to lead workshops and creative sessions. These workshops do carry a charge. However, we heavily subsidise the cost for members to keep sessions as affordable as possible.
Non-members can still attend workshops for just £5 per session. However, visitors should check in at the shop counter before attending to confirm that their membership remains valid or to join the Scrapstore membership scheme.
Supporting Creativity and Sustainability
Every workshop helps support the wider work of Tavistock Scrapstore. By attending our sessions, visitors help us continue promoting creativity, sustainability, recycling, skill-sharing and community engagement across Tavistock and West Devon.
Whether you want to learn a new skill, meet creative people or simply enjoy making something by hand, Tavistock Scrapstore workshops offer a welcoming and inspiring place to get involved.
